18 June 2008

Well...my day went like this...
At about 4pm on the day my profile was published, 2 text messages hit my phone. They read... "Page 23 of The London Paper" and "NO WAY...Date of the Day!!!”. Two friends had obviously noticed me in the paper. They were in hysterics apparently, but then explained that I must have had "some balls" to actually do it. "Too right" I thought...and about 50 or more text messages from friends would later hit my phone as I headed off home on the train. While I was on the train, two people spotted me...I wondered if this would actually work?!
The experience was interesting. I found that I enjoyed being in the paper, although I also found it nerve racking due to the reason why I was in the paper. Plenty of people have been winding me up about it, which includes the women's rugby team I coach, and a few ex girlfriends in the UK and the US. A lot of people have asked why I did it and didn't understand why I would need to go to such lengths, but as a young worker keen to impress, meeting people can be difficult. To be honest, I loved the 5 minutes of attention I got from so many friends, and a lot still ask if I've had any replies...
Have I had any replies or dates...not one! No one's recognised me since that day either. But that wasn't the point. To me - bar looking for a date - it was about having fun at the end of the day, and I would like to think that my profile description highlights that. I mean...who would confess to being a computer nerd really?! :o)
Cheers...
